About The Inventor - George Carter invented the Surfjet in  (1965)

George Carter has always been way ahead of his time. Expediting a process, unique entertainment designs and an overall passion to create are just some of the ingredients that make up Carter’s innovative mind.  The first jet-pump personal watercraft; Today’s JetSki’s are a direct descendant of Carter’s design.

Company History

  • 1965-1978 Company was established by  Bombardier Corp.
  • 1979-1981 Then the company was sold and moved  to St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • 1981-1993 Surfjet opened a division in Janesville, WI known as Progressive Power Corp.
  • 1994-1998 Surfjet was bought out, and the Minnesota plant closed, and Janesville became the new Surfjet establishment. Within those four years the company became Wild Thing Watercraft and then went out of business in 1998. All stock stayed at the Janesville plant with certified parts.
  • In 1999 I happened upon Certified Parts Corp. looking for a part and purchased the remaining boards that Surfjet had before they went out of business.
